History

Holly House was built around 1865 to house the Inspector of the Poor.

Subsequently, Holly House accommodated the Free Church Missionary then the Island's Doctor and it's last 'official use' was as the District Council Office.

When John and Neil Darroch gave up being the ferry men and had to leave the Ferry House, they moved to Holly House and it has remained in the Darroch family ever since.

Keeping it in the family, Harry & Catriona Smith took over Holly House in 2015 and began the task of totally renovating and refurbishing the building in a combination of modern and traditional styles.

Holly House is now available for guests to rent as self-catering holidays accommodation on the beautiful Isle of Jura.
